Question Types

Reading Question Formats

Each section tests different reading skills. Understand the question types to maximize your score.

True / False / Not Given

Determine if a statement matches the passage (True), contradicts it (False), or is not mentioned (Not Given). The trickiest question type — requires careful reading.

Sentence Completion

Fill in the gap with a word or short phrase from the passage. Tests paraphrasing and keyword identification skills.

Matching Information

Match paragraphs (A–H) to specific information: a reason, a method, an opinion, a detail. Requires scanning entire passage systematically.

Summary / Flow Chart

Complete a summary or flow-chart using words from the passage. Tests understanding of overall structure and key ideas.

Multiple Choice

Select the correct answer from four options (A–D). Tests comprehension of detail, main idea, purpose, or writer attitude.

Short Answer

Answer a question in no more than three words using information from the passage. Tests scanning and precision.
